News Broadcasting and Reporting

televised news The first tv news program was broadcast in the 1930's. Since that day the world's insatiable need for televised news stories has continued to swell. By the 1960's there wer over 75 million television sets in homes worldwide with about 54 million located in North America. Televised news has expanded through the years to include all the major tv networks as well as localized and nation cable stations. As a matter of fact, CNN was the first cable network to broadcast twenty four hour, non-stop news. At the time of its inception, CNN was considered to be ahead of its time. Could a television station really survive playing no programming other than news? CNN not only survived, it flourished! This leading news nmetwork continues to grow its viewing audience and its credibility every day.Other cable news networks have since popped up and have added to the barrage of what seems to be an endless supply of news programming.

Local news, on the other hand, is the form of newcast that only features stories falling within a limited geographic viewing area. Local news broadcasts are much more personalized with local tv reporters becoming small town celebrities. These tv personalities can become as popular as movie stars to a certain extent. Local newscasts typically follow a standard template which includes the top news story first, followed by secondary stories, sports, weather, and usually a good news sort of story to close out the broadcast. This of course is not set in stone and can very from tv station to station. tv news
