News Broadcasting and Reporting

We all know how interesting it is to sit down and open up the newspaper. For those of us who have time, it can also be thirty to sixty minutes of interesting television viewing to sit back and watch your local news, the world news, or both. People enjoy seeing the happenings in their neighborhood as well as the goings-on of someone else's neighborhood. We love to see daily events that have happened down the street as well as on the other side of the world. The news supplies us with the opportunity to do just that. From the safety of our home or office, we can view and read about war, fire, life, death, and destruction as well as triumph, adversity, and the human element in its finest hour.

news broadcast News broadcasting and news reporting are staples of North American culture. News broadcasters and news reporters can become icons. Names like Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, Connie Chung, Wolf Blitzer, and Katie Kouric have become household names in America. We listen to their words as though they were of biblical proportions. We trust their accuracy and we like their commentary when they happen to supply us with one.

People across America, from all age groups, and from all walks of life talk about the news almost constantly. It is a standard topic at work, at play, at dinner, and in the home because in one way or another, there is always a news story that relates to us and our own personal lives or someone we know or love dearly. News stories always strike a chord with us when they revolve around a familiar topic, or when they take place in a location in which we have visited or someplace we visit on a regular basis. Hence the popularity of the local newspaper and the local newscast.

The American news paper made its debut back in the 1700's spreading news stories to settlers who would have otherwise never been informed at all. These newspapers featured stories that we would consider mundane by today's standards, yet at the time were earth-shattering, spectacular stories to people who would otherwise be very limited on information happening outside the range of word-of-mouth. The American newscast made its debut not long after the onset of television. Television was, and still is, a phenomenal way of transmitting news and information to people in remote locations. Who would have ever thought that a farmer's invention, the TV as it is known today, could have affected the world so much. News could now be broadcast to homes as it happened further decreasing the delay at which it was reported. Live cable television today brings us our news from anywhere in the world literally as it happens. The internet has also evolved into a news wielding tool with live webcasts and newsfeeds being updated constantly. The internet has not quite achieved the popularity of television for obtaining news information but experts believe ti will eventually gain or surpass the tv as our favorite news tool.

There is no doubt we have found fascination with the news of the world. Whether it involves catastrophes, weather events, violent crimes, the lives of celebrities, sporting events, local neighborhood activities, or anything else... we pick up our newspapers, watch a televised newscast, and power up our computers to access the internet. The news is everywhere and everyone seems to be interested in one manner or another. News will forever be a part of North American culture, influencing us in many ways both consciously and subconsciously. news broadcasting celebritie
